Desirable shores

We have great strength in OTP, Elixir, and the industrious work of the community. We must work together to understand the obstacles to broader and sticky adoption. In a few minutes, I will illustrate our shared challenge and how we can, and must, collaborate to realize the full potential of our ecosystem and ensure its long term health and sustainability. Together we can reach desirable shores through the rough waters ahead.

Dan Janowski

I have been working with Elixir since 2016 and it has been my primary means of problem solving and system development since. I also write quite a bit of shell, jq expressions, typescript for CDK, javascript for React, mermaid, and a little Erlang. I was a late comer to containers, mostly because I still believe that BEAM deployment doesn’t need them, but they are a unit of deployment currency, so be it. I am currently a contractor and provide services specifically in and for Elixir as both a contributor and architect. I’ve plied my trade in many start ups, and long established companies. I have often brought Elixir in the door with me, showing the value and versatility of it with good outcomes. For fun I race a 1992 Miata in the SCCA Road Racing north east regions of the US. It is a car with a single computer designed in 1988, but I aspire to add something from this decade.
