A small-scale Elixir conference put together for the Elixir programming community by the Underjord team. By Elixir enthusiasts for Elixir enthusiasts. The event will be run by a small not-for-profit we've created. It is located in the seaside town of Varberg, a pretty place with unreasonably good food and a nice walkable city center conveniently accessible by train from Copenhagen or Gothenburg. Influenced by smaller flavorful events like GigCity Elixir, The Big Elixir and EMPEX this will be Sweden's first Elixir conference.

Goatmire is a loose translation of Getakärr. The historical name for Varberg, when it was little more than a few houses. It is still used in certain records. Translating the name Varberg would be far worse and does not make for a useable conference name. Goatmire is the new way to introduce this town to you, our dear international audience. Woo!

Our venue is an old and lovely theatre. It was recently refurbished with enough space to socialize but not enough to get lost. All conferences should have make-up mirrors and dressing rooms for speakers, right? When we offer someone the spotlight it may be quite literal.

We have gathered some recommendations for eating, drinking and long-wave radio stations on this map.

We can offer a special price for conference attendees at multiple hotels and one really old fortified prison.

Basic breakfast and a proper Lunch will be served during the event days. We plan to help coordinate social dinners for the evenings.

There is good parking available near the venue here or here. Both are free assuming you have a parking time indicator you can put in the window. There are many other affordable spots as well. The city center is very walkable and there are a fair number of parking garages.

Flying to Copenhagen Airport (CPH) is generally preferred compared to Gothenburg Landvetter (GOT). There are more good connections to CPH than GOT in our experience. Last mile is also easier.

After arriving in CPH: Get on the train headed for Göteborg (Gothenburg) and travel for a few hours, watch the swedish country-side. Then step off in Varberg. You will be in the middle of town, walking distance to.. everything.

If arriving at GOT: Flight bus should be an option, taxi is a bit pricey but also viable. Get into Gothenburg city center and find Öressundståg to Varberg.

Travelling from Stockholm? Typically there are good options with either SJ.se or vrresa.se to get you from Stockholm to Gothenburg and Öresundståg the last leg to Varberg.
